Three types of mobile top-up

When you top up a prepaid number through MobileTopUP you'll see three categories of product:

1. Airtime credit

A cash balance added directly to the SIM. The recipient can use it for calls, SMS and (on some networks) data, at standard pay-as-you-go rates. Best for people who mostly call and text, or who want flexibility.

2. Data bundles

A fixed amount of mobile data valid for a set period (e.g. 3 GB for 7 days, or 15 GB for 30 days). Data is consumed first; once it runs out the recipient either runs on slower speeds or needs a new bundle. Best for data-heavy users.

3. Combo / bundle plans

An all-in-one plan that includes data, unlimited calls and often unlimited SMS for 30 days. These offer the best value for regular users and are modelled on postpaid-style plans but on a prepaid SIM.

Which should you send?

  • Send airtime if you're not sure how the recipient uses their phone.
  • Send a data bundle if they mainly use messaging apps and social media.
  • Send a combo plan for the best monthly value when they use everything.

How to see the options

After selecting a country and operator in MobileTopUP, all available products are shown with the local value and your cost in USD. You can compare and pick before paying.
